Boat Lift Canopy FAQs

I do not see my boat lift manufacturer listed. Can you still cover my Boat Lift Canopy?

Yes. In many cases we can work with our manufacturer to provide a custom made replacement canopy for your frame. A photo, dimensions, and tracing of the frame end may be requested (if it is a flat end frame). Give us a call, email us, or live chat with a cover expert to inquire about a boat lift manufacturer that you do not see listed.

How do I measure my frame for a canopy cover?

That depends on who manufacturers your boat lift canopy frame. Measuring instructions vary by canopy manufacturer. View our Boat Lift Canopy Cover Guide for manufacturer specific measuring instructions.

Which material should I choose?

CoverQuest offers three heavy-duty marine-grade materials: Shelter Rite Vinyl, WeatherMAX, and SeaMark. All of these materials come with a 5-year warranty.

ShelterRite Vinyl is a tried and true American made vinyl material. Constructed with heavy duty woven polyester fibers for extra durability. The vinyl properties of this fabric make it crack, peel, UV, mold, and mildew resistant while remaining pliable. Smooth flat matte finish makes cleaning easy. Weighs 18 ounces per yard.

WeatherMax uses breakthrough UV technology and engineered yarn memory to always maintain its refined appearance. The unique Hydromax finish eliminates coatings for a cleaner environment and excellent breathability, providing mold & mildew resistance. Highly fade and abrasion resistant, this lightweight yet durable 8 ounce acrylic like canvas material makes installation a breeze.

SeaMark is a premium marine fabric using a combination of Sunbrella, the ultimate woven acrylic fabric, and Hartz textured marine grade vinyl. The result is a rich, fade resistant, and water-proof fabric that stands up to the harsh conditions of any marine environment. Weighs 15 ounces per yard.

WeatherMax and ShelterRite Vinyl canopy covers have heat welded seams while the SeaMark canopy covers seams are double-needle sewn with rot-proof UV treated thread.

Where are CoverQuest Boat Lift Canopy Covers made?

Our canopy covers are made by Shoretex Products, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Are CoverQuest Boat Lift Canopy Covers custom fitted?

Yes! These replacement canopy covers are custom tailored to the frame and dimensions selected when ordering.

How do the canopy covers attach to the boat lift frame?

All CoverQuest Boat Lift Canopy Covers include everything needed for installation. The majority of canopy covers are built with a QuikLash webbing system sewn on the inside perimeter of the canopy. The QuikLash system is made up of a webbed loop located approximately every 3 inches. Included bungee cords with either hooks or balls loop through the quick lash webbing and secure to the frame.

Most Boat Lift Canopies attach using individual bungees with a hook on the end. Attach each bungee through a perforated hole of the QuikLash webbing directly in-line with each canopy rib. Stretch the bungee underneath the canopy frame and up into the hole in the corresponding frame rib. Alternate from side to side and end to end to make sure the top does not become off centered.

Select Boat Lift Canopy Covers use the bungee ball system for the sides and bungee hooks on the ends. Take the bungee loop and insert it through the perforated holes on the QuikLash webbing directly corresponding with a canopy frame rib. Next run the loop around the frame and back around hooking it over the ball that is on the end of the bungee. You should alternate from one side of the canopy to the other as this will avoid off centering the canopy. Attach the bungee hooks to the QuikLash webbing on the ends. Stretch the bungee and insert the hook into the hole in the frame.

Other Boat Lift Canopies will be constructed with attachment systems built-in which do not require the use of any additional parts.

All Boat Lift Canopy Covers include detailed installation instructions which can be viewed in our Boat Lift Canopy Cover Guide.

How do I know who manufacturers my boat lift?

Take a look at our style finder. You may see your lift pictured. If not, check your Boat Lift Canopy frame for a brand. Keep in mind that your boat lift and your boat lift canopy could have two different manufacturers. You may also refer to the tag on your current Boat Lift Canopy Cover for brand and size.

If you are having trouble identifying your frame, contact us for help. We may request a photo or dimensions.

How do I clean my Boat Lift Canopy?

Shelter-Rite Vinyl canopies can be cleaned using a medium-soft brush, warm soapy water (such as Ivory), rinse with cool water and allow to dry. To kill bacteria creating mildew, use a medium-soft brush and vigorously brush the stained area with a 4 to 1 mixture of water and ammonia; rinse with cool water. Never use household cleaners, steel wool, industrial cleaners, dry cleaning fluids, solvents, bleach, detergents, or other abrasives.

WeatherMax canopies may be spot washed by using a soapy solution of a mild detergent and lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove soap and allow to air dry. For mildew stains prepare a solution of 1 cup bleach plus ½ cup mild detergent per gallon of water. Spray on the entire area and allow soaking. Rinse with clean water and allow to air dry.

SeaMark canopies should be vacuumed with a brush attachment and rinsed thoroughly with water to remove any loose particles or soil. Once the fabric has been rinsed thoroughly it can be hand washed with a mild soap (such as Ivory) and warm water. Allow the cleaner to soak for 10-20 minutes and avoid letting it sit in direct sunlight. Scrub lightly with a soft brush or terry cloth. Rinse thoroughly until all soap has been removed. Let the canopy air dry.
